My Political Activity
How it Started
Dissatisfied with the situation in my country, I planned to move to Canada in the spring of 2013. However, life had other plans. Eventually, I accepted the initiative of my then political party and, as part of a coalition of parties, ran in the local elections. After winning the election, I served as the deputy mayor of the town of Duga Resa from 2013 to 2017. This started my political career.
How it Progressed
The political period is by no means easy or simple, quite the opposite. Over the course of four years, I have met many people from public and political life, as well as the region in which I live. I have been the initiator and participant in numerous interesting projects, especially those aimed at young people. I strive to complete the initiatives I start to improve living conditions in my hometown, and I finally feel that I am living my true purpose.
How it Ended
Halfway through the term, the mayor tragically passed away in an accident, and my colleague, the other deputy, took his place. The mandate ended on a rather turbulent note, and in the next local elections, I ran with my independent list, securing around 10% of the votes. This marked my farewell to politics and a return to my true lifelong passion: tourism.
