Visit to Hoover Dam

Hoover Dam, the largest dam on the Colorado River, was built back in 1936.
Another place I had dreamed of visiting since early childhood!
I first saw it in Superman, and that same day, I attempted my own “flight” from couch to couch with a red beach towel tied around my neck, the only one I could find among the summer stuff.
I waited until no one from my family was around and went on my first flight!
The landing on the other couch was painful, and I just couldn’t understand how he could fly with his red cape while I, with my towel, couldn’t even make it to the other couch.
I gave up on flying (or at least I thought I did at the time), but I never stopped dreaming of visiting this place…
I got one step closer to flying about a month later at Orlando’s iFly center, but that’s another story…

The stunning Colorado River canyon, even with this human-induced “intervention,” is absolutely breathtaking…
On one side of the dam is Arizona, and on the other is Nevada. The time zone shifts, depending on which direction you’re heading.
Upstream from the dam is Lake Mead, and just beyond the first bend, there’s a marina for sailboats and yachts, which, unfortunately, I didn’t have time to visit.
That first section upstream from the dam looks like the perfect setting for a sci-fi movie!
See for yourself…
